Keeper Craig thrilled to end injury nightmare in Cup tie and targets Euros with Scots
That was so damn Gord

AINSLIE PARK might be a world away from the Allianz Arena but it felt like a field of dreams for Craig Gordon.

The Hearts and Scotland keeper might not have been used to seeing folk hanging out of windows in the nearby flats, punters sitting on fences and walls and even on top of vans parked.

But there was the familiar sight of Gordon making a trademark superb save and the sounds of Jambos chanting his name. And it was bliss.

There might only be about four miles between Tynecastle and Spartans' home ground but it's been a heck of a journey for Gordon since his nightmare double leg break 13 months ago.

There were plenty who feared the injury would end the keeper's career - but Gordon has made a habit of defying the odds over the years.

And here he was again, back between the sticks at 41, looking like he'd never been away, and loving every minute.

Gordon said: "It was nice to be back out there and play in that atmosphere with a crowd. I've played a few bounce games but that feels more real.

"I've not heard that song for a while. It's just great to be back out there in a game with the fans there. I'd love to do that again at Tynecastle and have a full Tynecastle when I get back.

"An Edinburgh derby with Spartans wasn't a bad one to come back to. It's certainly an experience when the fans are that close to the pitch with just a railing behind the goals. It was great to feel that atmosphere again. I really enjoyed it.
