DUNCAN FERGUSON admits his Inverness side have it all to do to stay in the Championship after they couldn’t see off gutsy Montrose in the first leg.
The Highlanders have had a crack at promotion to the Premiership and a Scottish Cup Final within the space of 24 months.
But they find themselves in a precarious position going into Saturday’s second leg against the Gable Endies on their home patch.
Caley Thistle boss Ferguson confessed it could have been even worse after his side’s poor showing.
He said: “I was happy with the clean sheet but not our offensive play, we were poor in the final third. I’m calm now as we could have lost that game.
“It’s a must-win game now but we’re on a grass pitch and we’re more comfortable playing on grass. We weren’t good tonight and Montrose were the better team. It was a tough night but it’s a clean sheet and we’ll take Montrose to our place now.”
