TYCOON TRIES A GLEN & AGAIN

A TYCOON has revealed plans to demolish a cottage once owned by Jimmy Savile and create a monument to the "father of mountain rescue", Sir Hamish MacInnes.

Savile lived in the property at Allt-na-Reigh in Glen Coe from 1998 until his death in 2011.

It was bought by retail tycoon Harris Aslam, who decided to let locals have their say on its future.

Plans submitted in 2021 sparked protests that they did not fit with the scenic landscape.

New proposals show Aslam wants to build a three-bedroom home on the site, keep in the outhouses that were once the workshops of inventor MacInnes.

The plans say the house will have "high-quality architectural design" as well as "inviting spaces" to take advantage of the nearby Highlands scenery.
