TRIBUTES have been paid to an Edinburgh-based businessman who died on his honeymoon following a carbon monoxide leak.
Investment management firm analyst Jaime Carsi, 40, was found dead last Saturday afternoon at a house in Majorca.
His Scots bride, Mary Somerville, 39, was discovered unconscious and barely breathing “lying in his arms” in bed.
She remains in a “serious condition” in an intensive care unit at Manacor Hospital in Majorca.
It is understood the couple only married just over a fortnight ago. Majorcan newspaper Ultima Hora reported that they were on their honeymoon.
It is believed friends of the newlyweds – who were due to join them on a boat trip last Saturday – alerted police after the couple failed to turn up or contact them.
Jamie and Mary were staying at a rural property in Cala Mesquida, in the north-east of the Balearic island.
Mary, a former Lloyds bank worker, taught yoga and meditation through a volunteer-based non-governmental organisation (NGO) which Jaime was also heavily involved with.
In an emotional social media post, Patti Montella, a friend of the couple, described Jaime as a “magnificent soul”.
She wrote alongside a photo of herself with them: “Jaime Carsi came into my life and took up residence in my heart so many years ago in London. His smile and spirit was pure love.
