ROBBIE NEILSON was axed by Hearts last night just six days before the Edinburgh derby - after a horror run of results threw the Jambos' Euro hopes into disarray.
Saturday's 2-0 home defeat to St Mirren made it five straight losses in all competitions.
That has seen the Gorgie side let a seven-point lead in third spot slip to drop to fourth.
And the Tynecastle hierarchy pulled the trigger last night with just seven games remaining to salvage their bid for Europe.
A statement read: "Heart of Midlothian Football Club can confirm that it has parted company with manager Robbie Neilson.
"Robbie has been a key part of the club's ascent back to the upper echelons of Scottish football, delivering another Championship title, a third-place finish, two Scottish Cup finals and European group stage football in the process.
