BRITAIN is being battered by the first named storm of the season as Agnes roars in with 80mph gales and torrential rain.

Much of the west of the UK, along with Ireland, was blitzed with power cuts and fallen trees last night.

And forecasters warn the “worst conditions are still to come” with yellow warnings in place until today as the true extent of the damage becomes clear.
