BRITAIN’S loneliest sheep is set to be saved in a mission backed by the Daily Star after being stuck at the foot of a cliff for two years.
Stranded Woolly was first seen by kayakers including Jill Turner from nearby Brora two years ago.
She encountered Woolly again during a recent trip, which means the animal has been on its own for over two years.
As the kayakers went by, Woolly bleated out to them, suggesting it is desperate to be rescued.
The grass-muncher was seen on the rocky beach near Balintore, Easter Ross, standing around under its massively overgrown fleece.
Animal charities want to carry out an “incredibly complex” rescue mission, but the Scottish Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said no safe way to do it had been found.
