SIR Mick Jagger led tributes to music legend Tina Turner last night after she died aged 83 at her home in Switzerland.
The Rolling Stones frontman, who duetted with Tina at Live Aid in 1985, wrote on Instagram: “I’m so saddened by the passing of my wonderful friend Tina Turner.
“She was truly an enormously talented performer and singer.
“She was inspiring, warm, funny and generous. She helped me so much when I was young and I will never forget her.”
A spokesman for the singer broke the news of her death last night, saying: “Tina Turner, the Queen of Rock ’n Roll, has died peacefully at the age of 83 after a long illness.”
A private funeral attended by friends and family is due to be held within days. Born Anna Mae Bullock in Nutbush, Tennessee, in the US, Tina cemented her place in music history during a 60-year career with classics including Private Dancer, The Best and What’s Love Got To Do With It?.
