PATRICK BAMFORD scored one of the all-time great FA Cup goals as Leeds made it to round four for only the second time in seven seasons.

The 1972 winners have not had much recent success in the competition but they savoured a fine afternoon at Peterborough.

Ethan Ampadu enjoyed being captain for the first time with a brace, his first Whites goals, but this was all about the second for Bamford.

The England international chested Ampadu’s 47th-minute long ball before volleying home with his left foot from 25 yards.

It was only Bamford’s second goal in an injury-ravaged season and Leeds boss Daniel Farke joked: “It was alright!

“The whole world, after this goal, will place it as a world-class goal, there are no other words.

“I am happy and delighted for him, it is more important for me he is back to his fitness levels, back in a good rhythm and also to find his confidence back. He is an important player for us.

“We were on it in this game. It was a perfect day for us.

“It was a difficult game and I am pleased we were able to win a tight game comfortably, with three goals and a clean sheet.”
