Damon and Graham Coxon reflect on a rewarding 12 months...
How did a new album come about?
GC: "We wanted to get back on stage and we thought it wouldn't mean much without new songs. We didn't know if it was for an EP or just a song or two. Damon played his demos and I really liked them. We quickly had an album."
What was the studio atmosphere like?
GC: "Very relaxed. We talk about a magic between us, but above all it's a lot of work to bring life to the songs. It was a challenge because Damon mainly composed on the piano, with layers of strings, and I had to put my two cents on the compositions."
The music is undoubtedly melancholic, but there's also joy...
DA: "Yes, especially since a lot of bands get back together, but rarely for good reasons.
For us it's the desire to make music again.
