Smith ready to step up and lead

HARRY SMITH is out to deliver Wigan derby glory – and prove to Shaun Wane he’s good enough for England.

With stand-off Cade Cust and full-back Jai Field crocked, scrum-half Smith takes on more responsibility for the Easter showdown with fierce rivals St Helens.

And the 23-year-old is more than ready as the Challenge Cup holders bid to down the champions in front of a crowd of more than 23,000 at the DW Stadium.

Smith said: “As a half-back you’re always responsible for leading the team around the field and making sure everyone knows what’s going on.

“With a big game like this, there’s more pressure but more excitement, too.”
