A CABINET minister today refused to say if Home Secretary Suella Braverman followed the law on the treatment of asylum seekers at the Manston processing centre in Kent.
Business Secretary Grant Shapps, who was home secretary for six days before Ms Braverman returned to the role last month, was repeatedly asked in a series of broadcast interviews whether she ignored legal advice over the detention of migrants at Manston during her first stint at the Home Office. But while he made it clear that he followed advice, acting quickly to move migrants to hotels after the former air base became overwhelmed, he stopped short of saying his predecessor did.
