The video — which has resulted in the dressage champion being suspended by the sport and out of the Paris Games — was released by a whistleblower and sent to the International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI).
Distressing footage, which was broadcast on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, shows Dujardin striking the horse on the legs with a whip. The full video, shot four years ago, is alleged to show her striking the animal at least 24 times.
ITV racing presenter Alice Plunkett said Dujardin’s behaviour was “not standard practice”, adding: “She knows that and I just don’t understand how she got into that situation because she is somebody who has made her life from horses because she manages them in a way that they work for her.”
