TAYLOR SWIFT’S record-breaking year continued as she took home seven gongs at the MTV Video Music Awards, taking her career total to 30 and equalling Beyoncé for the most awards won.
Accepting the prize for the evening’s biggest honour — video of the year — she thanked her boyfriend, NFL player Travis Kelce, saying: “Everything this man touches turns to happiness and fun and magic.” She also praised rapper Post Malone, with whom she won the award for best collaboration for Fortnight. She said: “There is a reason Post Malone is everyone in music’s favourite person to collaborate with. It has taken forever for me to get him to stop calling me ma’am.”
The wins mean she has overtaken Beyoncé as the “most decorated solo artist” as her fellow superstar’s haul includes awards as part of Destiny’s Child and with her husband Jay-Z.
Swift also encouraged her fans to register to vote in the upcoming US election, although she avoided directly mentioning her endorsement of Vice-President Kamala Harris.
