LONDON was hit by a second day of rail misery today — as the Elizabeth line came under renewed threat of being closed by strike action.
Train companies were again running far fewer services than normal, with the last trains to Brighton, Dartford and Sevenoaks leaving between 5pm and 6pm this afternoon.
Parts of central London were far quieter than normal. Early figures from Transport for London suggested there were 500,000 fewer Tube journeys by 11am yesterday, largely due to the collapse in rail commuters and the snow.
Thameslink and Southern today warned passengers to “only travel if absolutely necessary” due to the impact of the RMT’s 48-hour walkout.
