Russia attacked with drones and hypersonic missiles early this morning, said Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovy.
Among the victims were a baby and two girls aged nine and 14 as well as a woman working as a midwife in the city, officials said.
The strike came as Ukraine was still reeling from the deaths of at least 50 people at a military institute in the central city of Poltava yesterday.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on allies to help with air defences and advocate to allow longrange strikes into Russia following the attack on Lviv.
