The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) will come into effect from January 1, 2026.But from October 1, 2023, companies from seven carbon-intensive sectors, including steel, cement, fertiliser, aluminium, have been mandated to share data about carbon emissions with the EU. According to estimates, the CBAM will result in an additional 20-35% duty on exports.
