JAIPUR/BHARATPUR/BARMER/BIKANER: The protest over the dissolution of the nine new districts by the BJP-led Rajasthan government continued for the third consecutive day on Tuesday as the protesters in Neem-Ka-Thana began a hunger strike and traders in Anupgarh called for an indefinite shutdown.
Following a cabinet meeting on Saturday, CM Bhajan Lal Sharma approved the annulment of nine of the 17 districts formed by former CM Ashok Gehlot. The nine scrapped districts are Shahpura, Dudu, Jaipur Rural, Neem-Ka-Thana, Kekadi, Gangapur City, Jodhpur Rural, Anoopgarh, and Sanchore, while the three new cancelled divisions are Pali, Banswara, and Sikar. With the latest decision, Rajasthan will now have 41 districts and seven divisions.
