MAHAKUMBH NAGAR (PRAYAGRAJ): In a first, the power department has set up a three-layer anti-trip power supply system to ensure 24x7 electricity supply to the sprawling tent city during Mahakumbh-2025. A total of 85 substations will energize 4.25 lakh connections, while 14 dedicated 250 KVA transformers will cater specifically to the 13 Akharas.
According to superintendent engineer (Mahakumbh Nagar), Manoj Gupta, the mela has been covered by an unparalleled power supply network where substations across different sectors of the mela are interconnected through Ring Main Unit (RMU) arrangements. This allows automatic resumption of supply from a secondary source if the primary source fails.
Every RMU operates as an emergency-based system with multiple supply bases connected in series.
