Composed of 99.9% silver, the coin will be officially unveiled on February 2, coinciding with Basant Panchami, officials aware of the matter said on Sunday.
A gazette notification regarding the release was issued by the department of economic affairs, ministry of finance, on March 31 last year.
The coin holds great sentimental and historical value, but will not be pumped into for general circulation, and will be available for purchase through the Mumbai mint, they added.
The coin, weighing 40 grams and measuring 44 millimetres in diameter, is expected to be priced at approximately ₹6,000.
