Main accused in Chhattisgarh journo murder held from Hyd

The Chhattisgarh police have arrested a local contractor, who was the main accused in the murder of journalist Mukesh Chandrakar in Bijapur district of the state, from Hyderabad, officials said on Monday.

RAIPUR:

The contractor, Suresh Chandrakar, was absconding since the Mukesh's murder came to light on January 3 and was traced to Hyderabad by the special investigation team (SIT), the officials said.

"The main accused in Mukesh Chandrakar's murder, the local contractor Suresh Chandrakar, was arrested by SIT from Hyderabad early on Monday," a statement from the Bijapur police said, adding that he has been brought to Bijapur and is being interrogated.
