Bhalla, the former Union home secretary, took the oath as the northeastern state's governor last Friday. During his visit to the two adjoining districts, he urged community leaders to work with the administration in peace-building efforts, the Raj Bhavan said.
"Governor of Manipur, Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla, on his maiden visit after assuming office, visited Churachandpur and Bishnupur districts today and interacted with Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) residing in various relief camps...and reaffirmed his commitment to fostering harmony in the region," the Raj Bhavan said, adding that he also inaugurated an IT centre at the Churachandpur College and interacted with students.
