The stories they hear about the festivities and food make them brave domestic adversities just to be able to dress up in their finery and participate in the merry-making. This is in contrast to the present scenario where almost everything about the wedding revolves around women, be it the clothes, the jewellery, the make-up or the bridal entry.
With the onset of winter begins the big, vibrant, bright and festive Punjabi wedding season. This is my favourite time of the year; I could easily be termed as a serial wedding goer. Ironically, I am married to a man who has to be coaxed to dress in a formal attire and dragged to attend events attached to the final nuptials.
