The deaths of a businessman and his wife have triggered sharp exchanges between the Opposition Congress and ruling BJP in Sehore district of Madhya Pradesh, after a purported suicide note accused an Enforcement Directorate (ED) officer of harassment.

SILCHAR: Eight people were arrested on Friday for allegedly gang-raping a girl at a temple in Guwahati, recording the crime and sharing the video on social media, police said, adding that they are trying to nab one more accused.

According to the police, the crime took place on the premises of a Durga temple on November 17. It came to light after a senior police officer saw the purported video of the incident on social media on Thursday.

"An officer informed me about the video on Thursday midnight. The official told us that in the video, it was seen that a girl was brutally raped and tortured...," deputy commissioner of police, Guwahati West, Padmanabh Baruah said on Friday.
