The court, presided over by additional district and sessions judge Mona Singh, also imposed a fine of ₹10,000 on the accused, convicting him under Section 302 (punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code.
The incident occurred on August 6, 2020, at the home of the accused, Pappu Singh, during a dispute while finalising a suitable groom for Singh's daughter. The altercation escalated when Singh stabbed 48-year-old Bablu Kumar, a resident of Bharatpur, Rajasthan, multiple times in the abdomen.
