FARE ₹106, AUTO DRIVER CHARGES NRI STUDENT ₹3,500; ARRESTED

The Sahar police on Saturday arrested an autorickshaw driver for allegedly extorting ₹3,500 from a 19-year-old student, who had arrived from the United States of America, when the meter read ₹106 as fare for the trip.

MUMBAI:

The student, Vishwajeet Patil, who is originally from Sangli, arrived at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on December 14 and took an autorickshaw for Dadar railway station to go to his hometown, not knowing that autos are banned beyond Bandra.
