KOLKATA: West Bengal Police on Sunday said that it has written to the ministry of external affairs (MEA) seeking measures to strengthen the passport verification and delivery system amid the alleged spike in cases of infiltration due to the ongoing turmoil in Bangladesh.

The move comes days after West Bengal Police busted a racket used by Bangladeshi citizens to create Indian passports with fake documents. Seven people have been arrested in connection with the case so far, including the alleged kingpin of the racket on Sunday.
