Maharashtra minister's aide surrenders over Beed sarpanch killing

Maharashtra minister Dhananjay Munde's aide Walmik Karad, who was wanted in an extortion case linked to the murder of a sarpanch in Beed district earlier this month, surrendered before the police in Pune on Tuesday, saying that the case against him was "fake".

Karad has been on the run since December 11, two days after Santosh Deshmukh, a sarpanch of Massajog village in Kej tehsil of Beed district, was abducted and killed allegedly for opposing an extortion bid by some people who had demanded money from a windmill company.
