U'KHAND TUNNEL COLLAPSE - DAY 11
Even as rescuers now see light at the end of the tunnel, with fresh food being sent in for the last two days, and a tunnel into the debris for their evacuation now close to completion, for these eleven days, there has been a concerted effort to keep communication alive, and morale high.
And inside the enclosed tunnel, there is one man, 51-year-old Gabbar Singh Negi, the foreman of the project, that has been at the forefront of these efforts.
Negi has been involved in this line of work for over two decades, once part of the team that built the Qazikund-Banihal tunnel in Jammu and Kashmir in 2021, officials said.
In this most challenging of times, that experience has counted.
