The Union Territory of Chandigarh has become the country's first administrative unit to achieve 100% implementation of the three new criminal laws, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah on Tuesday lauding all stakeholders of the UT administration for the accomplishment.

The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) came into effect on July 1, replacing the colonial-era Indian Penal Code (IPC), Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) and the Indian Evidence Act, respectively.
