Girl In Green's father wants her to recreate glory he witnessed in '88

AMBER DAD'S RAY OF HOPE

HERO goalscorer Amber Barrett's dad is dreaming of a new Ray Houghton moment as the Girls In Green train for their first ever World Cup.

The men's team reached their first major tournament 35 years ago and Ray scored our historic debut goal at Euro 88.

Amber's father Shaun Paul Barrett was in the stadium to cheer the iconic header as Jack Charlton's legendary team beat England 1-0.

Now, with excitement building to the World Cup kicking off in Australia and New Zealand on July 20, Shaun Paul sent good luck wishes.

He told the Irish Mirror: "I remember Euro 88 and Ray Houghton's goal.
