'Assassinate Putin'

RUSSIA has accused Ukraine of trying to assassinate President Vladimir Putin with a two-drone airstrike on the Kremlin.

Video footage of the "attack" has been doing the rounds and shows a flying object exploding above the dome of the site's Senate building.

Imagery apparently shot across the river from the Kremlin captures what looks like smoke rising over it.

Moscow branded it a "terrorist act" and said its military had disabled the drones before they could strike.

It added that debris from two unmanned aerial vehicles fell on Kremlin grounds but caused no damage.

Ukraine said it had nothing to do with it and added that it was possibly a "false flag" to justify attacks on its own civilians.
