Bailey: My eternal shame over Jules violence

IAN Bailey says he feels "eternal shame" for violently abusing his former partner, the artist Jules Thomas.

In his new podcast, Ian Bailey: In His Own Words, he claims the three children of Ms Thomas were "jealous" of his relationship with her.

The Englishman uses the platform to detail his life before and after he became the chief suspect in the murder of Sophie Toscan Du Plantier.

The French filmmaker was found bludgeoned to death from a rock just 100 yards from the front door of her West Cork holiday home in Schull just before Christmas in 1996.

Mr Bailey was never charged over her death and has always denied any involvement in her killing.

In the first episode of the autobiographical podcast, he opens up about his relationship with Ms Thomas, which ended in April 2021.

It was previously revealed that in 1993 she was the victim of an assault by Mr Bailey after an "alcohol-fuelled" attack, which left her with "very painful" injuries.

Ms Thomas told the High Court in 2014 of a second "alcohol-fuelled" assault carried out by Mr Bailey against her in May of 1996 which was described as "very bad". She said she experienced hair loss and facial injuries during the assault. She added that a third attack also occurred in 2001.
