IRELAND'S World Cup players' homecoming parade tomorrow could be overshadowed by a simmering row between the team's manager and captain.
Observers of the camp have revealed tensions spiked between skipper Katie McCabe and coach Vera Pauw in the match against Nigeria on Monday when the Girls in Green secured their first point at the finals.
Arsenal star Katie called for substitutions in the second half - but Dutch boss Pauw blasted: "Katie is not the coach."
It comes as a dark cloud remains over her future as coach, with rumours circulating assistant Tom Elmes could replace her as manager.
Former Irish women's international Rianna Jarrett, who knows both women well, feels the coach should have held her own counsel. Jarrett told RTE's World Cup podcast: "It's quite normal in teams I have been around for managers and captains to have those discussions.
"The biggest issue there was how it was handled. It should have been dealt with in-house as a lot of it now has been blown out of proportion.
