PEP: GET ME A TREBLE

That's not just the number of trophies he wants.... but the amount of new signings he will demand as he aims for evolution but not revolution

PEP: GET ME A TREBLE

AFTER a third straight Premier League title and a fifth in six years, Manchester City's squad is unquestionably the best in the country.

But just like Sir Alex Ferguson, who built several great Manchester United sides during his triumphant reign, Pep Guardiola will use the summer transfer window to make them even stronger.

And as with Ferguson, who won 13 Premier League titles, Guardiola does not bask in the afterglow of success for too long (City lift the trophy, above).

Once trophies are won, he is already looking forward, at the next challenge, to ensure his team remains the standard setters, the benchmark for others.

Yet, there will be no huge rebuild, no radical overhaul this summer, just some fine-tuning and additions to a squad that already has the nucleus to dominate both at home and abroad for years to come.

With expected departures including Ilkay Gundogan, Bernardo Silva, Aymeric Laporte (celebrating the title with Riyad Mahrez, below) and Sergio Gomez, Guardiola will make subtle additions, while ensuring the core of his title-winning side remains intact.

Evolution, not revolution, is the mantra at City.
