AARON RAMSEY has vowed to lead Wales into a successful new era despite admitting Gareth Bale is irreplaceable.
Wales begin rebuilding task this week after a disappointing World Cup. They finished bottom of Group B with just one point.
Skipper and record-scorer Bale subsequently retired earlier this year, aged 33, after 111 appearances and 40 goals for his country.
Now midfielder Ramsey, 32, has been given the armband by boss Rob Page ahead of qualifying for Euro 2024.
Ramsey, who has won 78 caps, said: "We are not trying to replace Gareth.
"That would be pretty difficult to do that - a player of that quality that we have been lucky to witness over the years.
"We know what we have got, we know the quality of players we have in this team.
