Woman scared of nephew who caused her death, pal tells sentencing hearing

A MAN convicted of killing his aunt subjected her to "verbal abuse and mental torture" before he caused her death, the Central Criminal Court heard yesterday.

Tragic Chrissie Treacy's friend Regina Donohue gave a statement at a sentencing hearing for Michael Scott.

He was convicted earlier this year of manslaughter through gross negligence when he drove over Ms Treacy in an agricultural teleporter outside her home in Portumna, Co Galway, on April 27, 2018.

Scott, 59, of Gortanumera, Co Galway, had denied he murdered Ms Treacy, who was 76.
