LIAM BUCKLEY is making no apologies for adopting a ‘kick ass’ approach to Cork City’s survival bid.
The Rebels are without a league win in six games as they prepare to face champions Shamrock Rovers in Tallaght.
They occupy the relegation play-off spot and fear getting cast adrift of next best Drogheda United.
Premier Division football is a priority next season and matters escalated during the week when City made an audacious bid for Drogheda boss Kevin Doherty.
Doherty turned the Rebels down and Buckley – the sporting director and interim manager – will continue to lead the team for now.
In June, the club said he would remain in caretaker charge until the end of the current season.
But the veteran gaffer revealed this week how the club are now chasing a permanent successor to Colin Healy sooner rather than later.
Buckley read his players the riot act after their 2-0 home defeat to Shelbourne last week but insists there’s nothing wrong with a few home truths.
