US cops beat Tyre Nichols who dies in hospital. Daughter of 1991 police victim weeps at footage

THE daughter of Rodney King, the man brutally beaten by police in 1991, broke down in tears when she watched the killing of Tyre Nichols.

Mr Nichols, a dad to a four-year-old boy, died on January 10 three days after set upon by five officers in Memphis, Tennessee, US.

Protests erupted across the US after the footage of the sustained attack yards from the victim's mother's house was released by police on Friday.

One video clip shows officers dragging the 20-year-old from his car as he says: "Damn, I didn't do anything, I am just trying to go home".

A separate video shows two officers holding him down as a third kicks him and a fourth batters him with a steel rod before a fifth punches him.

Watching the video of the beating, which included some from police bodyworn cameras, Lora Dene King called on her fellow Americans to act.
