The Reds underperformed last season and while the campaign ended on a high note with the FA Cup triumph, there is a consensus that new additions are a must to push United back towards the topfour conversation. As of yet, United have not made any major alterations to their squad in the form of incomings or outgoings.
However, that is not to say that plans have not been made behind the scenes at Old Trafford to improve the squad.
M.E.N. Sport has taken a look at five players who realistically could move to United this summer.
JOAO NEVES
If the budget allows, United would likely go big to sign Benfica's defensive midfielder Joao Neves this summer. The teenager will be returning to Portugal in the coming hours following his side's exit from Euro 2024 on Friday evening.
Upon his return, discussions will be had regarding his future at the club but Benfica will feel they are in a strong position.
Neves' current deal runs out in 2028 and the release clause in his contract stands at £105m.
