AS THEY raised their glasses with beaming smiles, Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham summed it all up perfectly: "This is a night of positivity and unity," he said.
The landmark Hilton hotel on Deansgate was transformed into a dazzling spectacle - a sea of colour and pride from all angles to commend and champion LGBTQ+ charities, organisations and individuals for their contributions to the community.
It was the second year of the Gaydio Pride Awards, hosted by LGBTQ+ station Gaydio, that saw a host of celebrity guests attend the red carpet, sensational musical performances and inspirational nominees from across the UK recognised for their efforts in bettering the lives of those in the community.
It wasn't just an evening of joyous celebration but a night of reflection and solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community in Manchester and nationally; learning about the region's efforts to stop new HIV transmissions and to remember murdered teenager Ghey.
