All change for a derby cup final take two-and some have plenty to prove

THE United team that strides out of the Wembley tunnel for a second successive derby day FA Cup final on Saturday is going to look different to the side that took to the field a year ago.

Of the 20 United players involved in the squad for last season's 2-1 defeat, five players have since left and another two Jadon Sancho and Facundo Pellistri - are out on loan and unlikely to play for the club again.

Some of those departures were predictable before last season's cup final but the game also accelerated the end game for others.

The succession plan in goal moved forward after David de Gea's display and the Spaniard was allowed to leave on a free transfer.

United undoubtedly got value for money with De Gea following his £17m arrival from Atletico Madrid in 2011 but it was time to part ways.

Further forward, Jadon Sancho survived a little longer but his wretched 78 minutes under the Wembley arch only cemented the doubts Erik ten Hag and his staff had about the £73m signing's ability to influence the biggest matches.

The winger added 76 minutes to his Old Trafford CV in three substitute appearances in August but was jettisoned from the squad after falling out with Ten Hag at the start of September.
