Kyle Weilding, 34, was sentenced to five years in prison for controlling and coercive behaviour, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and non-fatal strangulation at Manchester Crown Court. He also received a 10-year restraining order.
The abuse and 'extreme stalking' took place over a two-year period. It started with controlling behaviour from the perpetrator who demanded the woman told him how she knew a man she was following on Instagram who she had met before she knew Weilding.
This, alongside threatening and aggressive behaviour of punching walls, raised genuine concerns for her safety.
He hit her repeatedly around the house leaving her defenceless in a horrific attack, parts of which were caught on CCTV, that left her in 'extreme pain'.
