A CITY fan daubed his neighbours' garden fence with a vile Munich air disaster jibe after learning they supported United, a court heard.
Michael Hatton became involved in a bitter feud with his neighbours in the Hollins area of Oldham. The 63-yearold had fallen out with the victims - a man and his girlfriend - over a wooden fence he had put up between their front gardens, a court was told.
As tensions escalated, Hatton painted '58' in reference to the 1958 Munich air crash which killed eight Busby Babes on to the fence. He also daubed the words 'City rule OK, 'United are s***' and 'f*** off' with paint.
In another incident, when the couple were accused of playing loud music late at night, Hatton, a self-employed painter and decorator who lives with his wife, got out his electric drill at 5.45am the following morning and affixed 27 screws to the fence. He shouted: "You are going to get this every morning you f****** scum."
