'Heartless' thug flashed cash made after forcing victim into sex work

A HEARTLESS thug who 'enslaved' a woman and forced her into prostitution filmed himself dancing with a stack of cash and flicking it towards the camera.

Jean Marinel Mihai has now been jailed for ten years after pleading guilty to modern slavery and exploitation. A court heard he made at least £100,000 while he forced the woman into sex work on the streets of Manchester.

Following his sentencing, footage has been released by Greater Manchester Police showing the 29-yearold dancing around while he flashes notes to the camera.

Manchester Crown Court heard how the victim was trafficked into the country from Romania, flying to Liverpool with Mihai with the promise of a better life.

Mihai hid that he knew the woman, in order to avoid raising suspicions of airport staff.

Upon arrival, she was placed in a guest house and put to work as a sex worker in the Cheetham Hill and Strangeways areas.

"She didn't know what she was doing, where she was going, save and except that she was being moved to the UK to make money for Mr Mihai as a prostitute," Judge Rachel Smith said at Manchester Crown Court.
