Countless families are grappling with the daunting costs of staying warm and nourished. But hunger shouldn't be part of this struggle.
That's why the M.E.N. Christmas campaign is partnering again with Humans MCR, a charity doing incredible work to tackle hunger in Greater Manchester.
Their approach reimagines the traditional 'food bank' method, aiming to break the cycle of intergenerational food poverty through providing a cycle of services to help lift people out of hunger.
Humans MCR stands out for its commitment to treating every person with the dignity and respect they deserve. They serve as a vital support system for families and individuals throughout the region. Their discreet delivery in unmarked vans helps maintain privacy, while also providing people in need with choice over what they eat.
We teamed up with the charity last year, raising funds to make sure nobody went hungry in Greater Manchester during Christmas. This year, amidst escalating hardships for countless families, we're supporting Humans MCR again, recognising the heightened need for our support.
They are based in Blackley but work with families and individuals in need across Manchester, Salford, Rochdale, Stockport, Trafford and Bury with the aim to add Bolton in April 2024.
The charity's main concern is relieving people in food poverty through 'respect, health, dignity and hope' by providing a number of services to those struggling.
But Human MCR's primary mission is to help break intergenerational cycles of poverty by helping people with emergency food packages until they are ready to transition to their community grocers programme, where they can buy groceries at massively reduced prices.
