WOMAN RAISING AWARENESS AFTER HUSBAND'S DEATH FROM CANCER
PAIGE OLDFIELD
'I lost my beautiful Paul five days after our wedding'

A WOMAN whose husband died just days after their wedding has spoken out to raise awareness of the condition that rapidly claimed his life.

Diane and Paul Hodgson tied the knot at their home in Heywood just months after Paul's unexpected cancer diagnosis.

Paul, 56, first started feeling unwell around Christmas time and later visited a doctor. It was noticed the tiler was excessively burping, had dark urine, loose stools and back pain.

The grandad-of-six was sent for blood and stool samples but the results showed nothing of concern.

The following February, Paul and NHS support worker Diane enjoyed a week-long trip to Egypt but Paul's condition continued to deteriorate.

Still feeling unwell, Paul returned to his GP where it was noticed his skin had started to turn yellow. He hadn't noticed this due to his holiday tan.

Paul was asked to return a week later for more blood tests, but, alarmed by his rapidly declining health, Diane took him to A&E.
