IT'S HIGH ART

WHEN the Sphere arena was first unveiled in Las Vegas five months ago, its booming screens - featuring more than 580,000 sq ft of LED displays made headlines around the world for its ground-breaking technology and visual effects and jawdropping shows.

The 18,600-seat venue has already seen the likes of U2, the NFL, and Hollywood director Darren Aronofsky make use of its immersive video and audio capabilities.

So it was inevitable that the rest of the world would start to look for their own version of the Sphere to wow visitors. Thankfully, here in Manchester, our own answer to the Las Vegas Sphere (well, sort of) has been in the works for five years now.

More than 25 years after opening as a hugely popular indoor entertainment centre, the Printworks complex has undergone a massive £21m transformation featuring the largest digital ceiling across Europe. The 1000m screen, which takes over the entire ceiling across the venue's alleyway, will feature a varied programme of fun, creative, and visually impressive graphics that will be free to watch throughout the day and night.
