Let his soul find peace

POLICE were told a man whose body lay unfound for eight weeks had been stabbed.

The remains of Tanyaradzwa Matera, 43, known to his family as Julius, was found on December 7 last year on the edge of playing fields.

GMP have now revealed that they believe he was killed on the night of October 13/14. His body lay unfound as it was partially obscured by a thicket of Japanese knotweed.

After Julius had been reported missing on October 24, GMP recorded him as a high risk missing person. As a result of information received, police searched a house on Great Cheetham DCI Rach Street West in Salford. They also checked an area of dense shrubbery behind it next to Broughton Cricket and Rugby Club, where they found his body.

Now, eight months since his body was found, police have made a new appeal for witnesses to come forward.

Murder squad boss Detective Chief Inspector Rachel Smith said: "Three suspects are still on police bail. We have had extensions to their bail while we have done our investigations. The next stage will be re-interviewing them in the next few weeks."
