Mum crushed in taxi horror on Helsinki wedding trip

A MOTHER-OF-TWO was seriously injured by a taxi just hours after watching her son get married in Finland.

Jubilation turned to horror for Hayley McAleer and her family as she left an evening celebration with her husband, Liam, after the wedding.

Hayley’s family said she got into a taxi outside a restaurant in central Helsinki, but it drove away while she wasn’t fully inside. They said she was knocked down then dragged under the car and crushed against a bollard, leaving her badly injured.

Hayley, 54, a veterinary nurse who lives with her husband in Urmston, Trafford, suffered extensive damage to her right leg and her right arm was also broken in two places. She’s bedbound and unable to feed herself as a result.

Her niece, Danielle Clucas, 31, said her aunt’s life was saved by a quick-thinking passerby who applied a tourniquet to her leg to stop her from bleeding out.
